Mosaic Jewel Drops with Tonic Studios NEW Nuvo Jewel Drops

Hi Everyone

Today I have been playing with Tonic Studios NEW Nuvo Jewel Drops launched today as the One Day Wonder on Create and Craft.  I hope you have been watching the shows :)

The Design Team have made some inspirational projects for you to drool over so check them out on Tonic's Pinterest account.  You will love them.

So here is my card for this afternoon an I hope you like it. I have used the Jewel Drops to create a mosaic effect background for you.  So let's get started!

What I Did

  • First I took a piece of acetate and laid it over my glass mat so that I could use the squares as a guide.  I then took the red and green Jewel Drops and used them to draw squares to form a checked pattern ensuring that colours joined up together.  Let dry (I let it dry overnight).
  • Once the drops are completely dry I broke it into shards.
  • Take a 7" x 7" white card blank and glue the shards of jewel drops down the right-hand side to form an irregular pattern.
  • Next cut a piece of red card to 4 1/8" x 6 5/8" and a green piece at 4" x 6 1/2".  Layer together and add to the left-hand side of card front.
  • Die cut leaves from the Autumn Die Collection together with a greeting.  Glue in position.

What I Used

Tonic Studios Nuvo Jewel Drops - Strawberry Coulis (643N) and Key Lime (645N)
Tonic Studios Autumn Die Collection - Autumnal Oak - 1431E

Party Shoes with Tonic Studios New Nuvo Sparkle Dust

Good Afternoon Everyone

As it's nearly the weekend and us girls love to get dressed up to go out for that special night I thought I would share this project (or at least half this project..lol) with you.  It's so easy to add some sparkle and glamour to a plain pair of shoes to give them that Wow factor!  All you need is glue, a brush and Tonic Studios Nuvo Sparkle Dust... so let's get started.

Post Sparkle Dust-ification
Pre-Sparkle Dust

What I Did

  • First find shoes you want to bling up and give them a good clean to remove any dirt or grease.
  • Next get an old pot to mix glue in.  Pour some Nuvo Adhesive into pot and then mix in some Sparkle Dust.
  • Then using a brush paint the mixture all over the shoe.  This will give a good base to build on.  Leave to dry.  Once dry add some more of the glue mix but this time holding the shoe over a box/tray, sprinkle the shoe with Sparkle Dust direct from pot.  Make sure all areas with glue are covered.  Wipe away any excess glue from inside shoe and sole. Leave to dry.
  • Once dry tap off excess glitter.  Use a soft brush to burnish and smooth glitter.  This will get off any last remaining loose glitter.
  • Now you are ready to dance the night away - enjoy!

Jungle Jeep with Tonic Studios NEW Celebration Rococo Dies

Hello Everyone

And welcome to today's card project using Tonic Studios fantastic NEW Celebration Rococo dies.  I am using the Wedding Car for the tutorial today but we are heading into the jungle on our own little safari where there's no need for mosquito spray.... :)

What I Did

  • Create a black card base using the largest die in the Jasmine Die set,  Then using the same die take a piece of grey card and draw inside the edge of the die with a pencil and cut out.  This will give you a narrow border.  Glue this to front of card.
  • Using the next size plain die in the Jasmine set cut a printed piece of paper and glue onto front of card.
  • Die a another smaller layer in a contrasting printed paper.  Then take a piece of black card, lay the die over and draw around the outside of the die this time.  Cut out.  Glue the pieces together. Cut a small strip of green card and a narrower piece of Kraft card and stick one on top of the other.  Cut in half so that you have two strips.  Glue one to each side of the card.
  • Put 3D foam onto the rear of the layered panel and attach to card.
  • Die cut some leaves using the Autumn Die collection and decorate where wanted.
  • Next die cut the wedding car in green.  Snip away the the roof and middle section of car and rejoin the front to the back to make a shorter vehicle.
  • Stick the card die cut onto black card and cut away excess.  Then layer on to grey card, trim around to leave narrow border.  Layer once more onto white card trimming to leave narrow border.
  • Die cut wording in white and black and stick together with a shadow.  Add to front of card along with the finished car.

Black Lace Boxes with Tonic Studios Nuvo Sparkle Dust

Good Morning Everyone

I hope you are watching the live shows this morning (or have set your Sky boxes to record) as Tonic have launched their Brand New Sparkle Dusts today.  Ultra-fine Glitters in an array of colours.

Here is a really easy way to transform some plain boxes using two colours and a bit of lace trimming from my craft stash.

What I Did
  • Measure sides of the box or boxes and the lids too you are using and cut double-sided paper to fit.
  • Peel off one side of the covering on adhesive tape and carefully adhere to box sides and lid - smoothing down as you go to avoid air bubbles.  Leave the top covering sheets on.
  • Working on one side at a time on the box first carefully peel the covering up from the bottom only half way up the side.  Lay the lace along the edge ensuring it is lying flat.  Peel the remaining cover sheet off.  Take the Sparkle Dust and cover the open areas.  Shake off excess and burnish so that it smooth and flat.  Brush wit a soft brush to remove any fine particles left.
  • Remove the lace gently and add the second colour dust to cover all remaining sticky areas.  Once again burnish.
  • Repeat this process until all the sides have been decorated.
  • To finish add some embellishment mousse to gild the edges.

What I Used

Tonic Studios Nuvo Sparkle Dust - Black Magic and Silver Sequin
Double-Sided Adhesive Paper
White Card Boxes
Tonic Super Trimmer

Pretty As A Picture - New Sparkle Dust from Tonic Studios

Hi Everyone

I am sooo excited to share this project with you.  I have been using the wonderful Brand New Sparkle Dust glitters from Tonic Studios.  These are a collection of 12 Ultra-Fine glitters that can be used on many different projects in many different applications...but basically they are GORGEOUS.. :)

Here is my project for you.  I have used the Sparkle Dust to frost the glass of my picture frame, to add colour to my flower layers and to stamp and colour on with my Nuvo pens....love all the ways it works.  This is just my first share but I have others that I will share over the next couple of days with you.

What I Did
  • I have used a 1" deep box picture frame.  Take back off, cover glass and paint all over the frame with white acrylic paint.  Leave to dry.
  • Next cut a square of double-sided adhesive paper to fit the front of the glass.  Die cut a heart from the centre to create an aperture. Carefully stick the adhesive paper to the front of the glass peeling the covering off a little at the time smoothing onto surface avoiding any air bubbles.
  • Once glue adhesive has been applied to glass sprinkle Sparkle Dust over the surface making sure all areas are covered.  Dust off excess with a soft brush and gently burnish the glitter to male smooth.
  • Cut black heart and add verso detail.  Glue a piece of paper to inside of back piece and then glue heart centrally to this.
  • Cut a piece of card to fit stamp size and cover with a piece of the adhesive paper. Peel off top layer and cover with Sparkle Dust.  Once again burnish until smooth.  Using the Nuvo alcohol pens colour the image (this can be done before and the adhesive paper and glitter added after).  Cut around image leaving a narrow border.  Shape and using 3D foam pads pop into position.
  • Place back panel to rear of frame and secure.
  • Die cut some flowers both open and closed shapes.  Take a Nuvo glue pen and add this all over the closed petal shapes, sprinkle with Sparkle Dust and leave to dry.  Once dry layer the flowers.  Die cut some swirls in black and these together with the flowers to two of the outside corners of the frame.  To finish add some Nuvo Crystal Drops.

What I Used

Tonic Studios Nuvo Sparkle Dust - Snow Glow and Rose Quartz
Tonic Studios Beautiful Blooms - Sunburst Gazania - 1288E
Tonic Studios Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Melia - 1286E
Tonic Studios - Hearts Set

Mixed Media Canvas with Tonic Studios Autumn Die Collection

Hi Everyone

MJ here.  I hope you have had a fab weekend.

Today I am sharing a small mixed media canvas I made for the launch of Tonic Studios new Autumn Die Collection.  It is very easy but quite effective.

The dies cut like butter through the funky foam.  On my previous post I had cut the grasses from foam and used as a stamp for the background.

What I Did
  • Start with a 5" x 7" canvas board.
  • Die cut a tall grass piece from funky foam together with some leafy branches and butterflies.
  • Glue the die cuts to the canvas and allow to dry completely.
  • Paint the canvas and die cuts with two coats of black gesso.  Leave to dry.
  • Next use some gold embellishment mousse added to a little water in a spritzer bottle and spray lightly across canvas.
  • Take Fresh Copper, Aquamarine, Indian Gold, Spring Green and Mother of Pearl embellishment mousses and apply to the die cuts using your finger (or cotton bud) until you are happy with the colours.
  • Enjoy!

Scenic Circle with Tonic Studios Autumn Die Collection

Hi Everyone

I know 'two blog posts in one day!' The reason for this is that I am busy, busy at work tomorrow and haven't learned the ancient art of scheduling sorry...lol 😆

I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project.  I love creating scenes using stamps but this time I am using the fabulous NEW Tonic Studios Autumn Die Collection to achieve my end result.  So let's get the dies, some funky foam, an acrylic block and some inks and play!

What I Did

  • Take an 8" x 8" card blank and the second largest circle die and make your shaped base by leaving the edge of the die hanging over the fold a fraction and run through your machine. (You will need an A4 format die cutting machine such as the Tonic Tangerine).  With fold to the top score horizontally across and fold.
  • Next using the same die cut out three circles in white.  Add one circle to the front bottom edge of the card to make an easel card.
  • Using the verso die (next one down) cut this design from both the remaining white circles.  Then take the next size circle down and cut out the centre.
  • Cut two green circles from the circle die used first (larger one being used).  Stick one of the detailed frames to a green circle and glue to inside base of the card (you may need to trim this a little before where the fold is).
  • Using smaller circle die, die cut the centre from the remaining green circle.  Glue the other detailed frame to this.  Add 3D foam to the rear - put aside ready.
  • Cut two smaller white circles from the die set and glue one to the inside base of card.
  • Take some funky foam and the reed die and cut out an image.  Use a temporary glue adhesive on the rear of the die cut and stick to an acrylic block.  This is now our stamp to create the scene.  Stamp on to the white circle in various greens and lastly with black,  Leave space to one side.  Now use some distress ink and colour the back ground to add sky.
  • Die cut some ivy leaves, branches and reeds in black card and a small butterfly.
  • Stick the top frame piece to top front of card.  Add the stamped circle to the centre.
  • Arrange die cuts and glue in to position.
  • Die cut a greetings panel and add the greeting to suit.  Raise on 3D foam for the stopper.
  • Enjoy!

What I Used

Autumn Die Collection - Pine Season - 1430E
Autumn Die Collection - September Harveset - 1432E
Layering Die - Celtic Dream - 209
Funky Foam and Acrylic Block

NEW Autumn Die Collection from Tonic Studios - Stunning!

Hi Everyone

Sorry it’s been a while since blogging last but we have been experiencing problems with Blogger!  But we are now back in the room and raring to catch up with some lovely projects starting with Tonic Studios NEW Autumn Die Collection and Embossing Folders.

As usual they have come up trumps with this oh so usable Autumn Die Collection.  Each die is individually fabulous but use them together to create  scenes etc. and you have the WOW! factor in your hands.

Join Jo on Friday 29th July at 8pm on Create and Craft TV for the introduction of these Autumn Die sets. These dies create perfect centerpieces on your cards and paper craft projects. There are four die sets in the range; the Pine Cone Season Die set, the Autumnal Oak Die set, the September Harvest Die set and the Fallen Leaves Die set.

Here is my first project for you using both the dies and embossing folders together with Nuvo Embellishment Mousses.

What I Did

  • Use an 8” x 8” cream card blank.  Cut a 7 3/4” square from caramel card and glue to front.
  • Next cut a 7” x 7” brown square and a 5” x 5” brown square.  Use an embossing folder for both squares.  Using a mixture of the Nuvo mousses gently add layers of colour until you are happy with it.  Glue the large square to card front.  Cut a piece of caramel to 5 1/8” x 5 1/8” and adhere to rear of smaller embossed square.  Add to card front with 3D foam pads.
  • Die cut a selection of the bramble leafy branch in brown and some of the more delicate leaf branches in caramel.
  • Take the bramble leaves and cut off the leaves.  Apart from one set of the medium brown leaves, place them into an embossing folder and emboss.  Using the Nuvo mousses colour the embossed leaves as before.  Glue the leaves in sets of four by forming a cross shape.  Glue large embossed at bottom, then the plain brown medium leaves and lastly the small embossed leaves.  This will form the larger flower.  Add to front of card with the caramel leaves.
  • The small flower is made in this same manner but just using two layers of the smaller leaves to form the bloom.
  • Die cut a panel to mount a greeting on to finish.  I also added some string loops and Nuvo drops.
  • Enjoy!

  • What I Used

Tonic Die Set - Autumnal Oak - 1431E
Tonic Die Set – Fallen Leaves - 1433E

Police Telephone Box Gift Box Tutorial

Hi Everyone

It's MJ here today with a little tutorial for you.

I've been asked by sooo many people now about this project I thought it would be an idea if I told you how I did it.  :)

**Please note that this is for personal use only and not for resale or for mass production **

So here we go......

What I Used

Navy Blue Card - 240gsm Papermill Direct
White Card - 240gsm Papermill Direct
Tonic Studios Super Trimmer
Crafters Companion Scoremaster/The Big Score
Glue/Foam Pads

What I Did

To Make the Box Inner

  1. Cut two pieces of navy card to 9 1/2" by 8 1/4" (A4 width).  Score each piece on the base side of the scoreboard at 4 1/2" - 9".  Turn the card pieces so that the long edge runs down the board and score them at 1/2".

  2. Next cut two squares of navy card one at 4 1/2" and the other a 1/16" smaller.
  3. Cut tabs along bottom 1/2" scored line on both pieces.
  4. Fold and burnish all score lines.  Glue the two box panels together then glue the smaller square to the inside on top of tabs.  Add remaining square to outside base of box.

To Make the Outer Box
  1. Cut two pieces of navy card to 9 1/2" x 8 1/4".  Score each piece on the box lid side of the scoreboard at 4 1/2" and 9".  Turn the card pieces as before (staying on the box lid side) and score them on the 1/2" line.
  2. Then cut two squares of navy card as before.
  3. Cut the tabs as before and glue box together in the same way.
  4. To make the tiered top of the box cut three squares at 5 1/2" - 5" and 4 1/2" and score each one of them at 1/2" on the box lid side of board.
  5. Cut tabs, fold and burnish scorelines and glue to form lids.
  6. Glue the lids in a stack by running a bead of glue around the edges and pressing down gently.  Leave to dry.  Once dry place the lids on top of box lid and glue into position.
  7. To make the top light piece - cut a piece of navy card at 3" x 3" and score around all edges at 1".  Cut and trim tabs.  Glue together, add white squares of card and glue to top of box.

To Make Side Panels
  1. Make a template following below.
  2. Cut four pieces of navy card to 4 5/16" x 7 5/8" and using template as a guide cut out the apertures.
  3. Cut six narrow strips of navy card for each panel and glue in place on rear of top window panes.
  4. Cut two 2" squares of white card and glue behind window strips.
  5. Cut a navy strip of card at 1/4" x 7 5/8" and glue this down the centre of the panel.   Repeat this for all panels.
  6. Attach the panels to the box sides using 3D foam pads.
  7. Decorate to suit - Voila!

And that's all there is to it!!

I hope you have enjoyed my project.

We hope you have been inspired.

Butterfly Daisy Burst Circle Easel with Tonic Studios Double Detail Stencil and Die Sets

Hi Everyone

It's Mandy-Jane here tonight.  How are you all?  Keeping well and crafting up a storm I hope :)

Whilst I am quite literally watching paint dry (for a workshop piece) I thought it would give me time to share today's project with you so that I can tell about Tonic's new stuff!

I hope you have been watching the shows with Jodie over on Create and Craft and picking up all the tips and techniques that she is sharing.  You can do so many things with the Embellishment Mousse!!

So here it is and I hope that you like it.  I loved making it for the shows.

What I Did
  1. Using an 8" x 8" card blank; take the largest outer Celtic circle die, tape to folded card so that the edge circle hangs slightly over the fold, and run through your die-cutting machine.  You will now have a circle blank.
  2. Fold the front circle in half to form easel part of card.
  3. Cut a full circle from white card and glue this to the lower half of the folded circle card blank.
  4. Cut two large navy circles and add to top and inside of base card (this will need to be trimmed slightly).
  5. Using a paler blue card and the detailed die, together with the outer large die, cut two - each one to be cut separately so that you do not cross your dies whilst cutting out.  Glue these to the navy layers.
  6. Cut the pretty white circles as above with next smaller dies.  Add to card.
  7. Use the next die down, scalloped circle, and cut out in spotty blue paper and glue in place.
  8. Take the Double Detail outer frame die and cut one out in navy card.
  9. Next using the outer frame piece cut this out in white card.  Then line up the floral die piece within the white piece and cut out.  Leave the card in the die and emboss the detail.
  10. Using the stencil place this over the embossed detail of the die, tape in place and then using a spatula and the embellishment mousse smooth this through the stencil.  Remove the stencil and clean.  Leave mousse to dry or you can use a heat tool.
  11. Once mousse is dry attach the floral piece to the navy back piece.  I used 3D foam pads to raise.
  12. Attach the centre piece to the card front with 3D foam pads.
  13. Die cut some daisies and decorate the card with them.
  14. Add butterfly die-cut and Crystal drops to finish.

New Tonic Studio - Poppy Hideaway - Double Detail Die Set

Hi Everyone

Tonic have done it again with their new release of the Double Detail Die Sets but they have also gone and added a new set of glorious colours in their Nuvo range of the mousses.  The new colours are fabulous and contain lovely pastel shades too.

So here is the first of my projects that I made for the POW shows over on Create and Craft this week.

I hope you like it :)

What MJ Did

  • Taking a 7" x 7" card blank as the base.  Cut a piece of black card to 6 3/4" square.
  • Place the die in the centre of the black square and cut out.  Then emboss the die details.
  • Take the matching stencil, line it up over the die cut, tape in place.
  • Next using the blue and green mousses and a piece of Cut and Dry foam, ink through to colour the embossed detail. Remove stencil.  Clean the stencil.
  • To create the background; take a piece of white card approx 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" and using the foam again, swipe some blue across for the sky and green across for the grass.  Stick to card front.
  • Add 3D foam to back of black piece and add to card front.
  • Create a white frame and a large blue frame and glue these together.  Add to front of card using 3D foam pads.
  • Take a piece white card, blue mousse and a piece of foam and colour the card.  Once coloured die cut some flowers.  Decorate the front of the card with these using Novo Crystal Drops to finish.

Sew Pretty 2 - Bright Butterflies

Hi Everyone

It's a gorgeous day here in sunny South Wales so I am hoping that you are having a dry day too!

Today I am sharing a card project that I made for Tonic Studios shows over on Create and Craft this week as part of their 4 Day Deal.

I loved working with the last Sew Pretty collection so to have another set to expand on that Wow!

The new Sew Pretty sets are versatile and look fabulous no matter what you do with them :)

So here is my card and I hope that you like it. xx

What MJ Did

  1. Create a 8 1/2" x 7 1/2" white card blank.
  2. Cut a piece of yellow card to 8 3/8" x 7 5/8".  Glue to front of card blank.
  3. Cut a piece of pink card to 8 1/4" x 7 1/4".
  4. To create frames - measure 3/8" in from each edge and mark lightly with a pencil as a guide.
  5. Next along the 8 1/4" side measure from the left-hand mark across 2 1/4" to form a rectangle.  Cut out the aperture.
  6. Leave 3/8" between the first and second panel and once again measure 2 2/14" across to form next panel.  Repeat once again for the third panel.  You should have three apertures cut.
  7. Using 3D foam tape attach the pink panel piece to front of card.
  8. Using the Elegant Columns Butterfly die cut out 4 pieces.
  9. Using a pink pen add faux stitching following the dots.
  10. Attach the two outside butterfly columns first using 3D foam pads.  Then glue the last two pieces together apart from the wings.  Then add to centre panel with foam pads.
  11. To finish bend up butterfly wings and add yellow Crystal Drops.
  12. Enjoy!
