What MJ Did

  1. Start with an 8” x 8” white card blank.
  2. Cut a piece of grey card to 7 7/8” x 7 7/8” square.  Glue to front of card.
  3. Cut a black piece of card to 7 7/8” x 7 7/8” square.  Take the large die from the Garland Terrace set and tape into centre of panel.  Run through a die cutting machine.  Repeat this twice more on either side of the centre cut out.  Then choose an embossing folder and emboss this card.
  4. Place the black card square over the grey square and mark where the apertures are.
  5. Using the large die once again die cut it 3 times.  Glue these die cuts into position matching with pencil marked areas.
  6. Next add 3D foam tape to rear of black card piece.  Attach onto front of card lining up the apertures.
  7. Cut 2 of the small fancy plates from black card and attach to card as in picture.
  8. Stamp a greeting onto white card and die cut.  Take the small outer die and using a pencil draw around the outside edge.  Cut this out with scissors to act as back layer.  Glue together and stick in centre panel with 3D foam.
  9. Using the corner die from the Floral Fancy set, cut 2 in white and 2 in grey card.  Shadow the white pieces onto the grey pieces.  Glue to front of card.
  10. Add a bow to finish.  Enjoy!

What I Did

  1. Start with an 8” x 8” white square card blank.
  2. Cut a square of light teal card at 7 7/8”.  Remove the centre of the piece by creating a 2cm frame. Glue to card front.
  3. Cut a white square at 7 3/4”.  Glue to card front.
  4. Using the remaining teal square piece glue to centre of card front.
  5. Cut another white square at 6” x 6” and create a frame by cutting in 3/8” from each edge using the Super Trimmer.
  6. Die cut two mini border strips and glue to the rear of the white frame, one top and bottom.  Add 3D foam around the frame edges and position on centre of card.
  7. Next die cut the fancy panel of the set, raise on 3D foam and attach to centre of the frame piece.
  8. Stamp chosen greeting onto white card then die cut with matching die.  Attach to centre piece using 3D foam.
  9. Take the fancy central die from the second set (floral fancy) and cut out three in the teal colour.  Trim the pieces to create 5 corners. Decorate outside 3 corners with the die cuts as shown.  Add the last 2 corner pieces to create the corner foliage.

Mini Decorative Dies and Stamps – From Me to You

Hi Everyone

Yes it’s MJ again back with another of the cards I made for Tonic’s launch of the Mini Decorative Dies and you loved them on launch!

I decide to go with brown, teal and white this time.  I hope you like it.

MDS Nov 15 2

What I Did

  1. Create an 8” x 8” brown card blank.
  2. Cut a white square at 6” x 6”.  Then cut a teal square to the same size. Using a Super Trimmer cut an aperture from the centre of the teal piece leaving 3/8” border around..  Mount the teal frame onto the white square using 3D foam.
  3. Using the main design piece cut 2 in teal and 2 in white.  Glue a teal die cut onto a white one shadowing them slightly.  Then cut each one half lengthways.  Glue these pieces flat onto the card front around the raised frame.
  4. Cut the corner piece out twice in brown and twice in white. Glue and shadow the pieces with the white on top to make two corner pieces.  Add to opposite corners of frame.
  5. Using the ???? die cut a brown base plate and rectangle decorative inner frame and then cut the filigree frame in teal card. You will need to cut out the centre panel of the teal frame using the decorative inner frame.  Glue the pieces together.  Add to front of card with 3D foam bringing it level with frame.
  6. Stick the small brown rectangle decorative frame through the aperture onto the card base.
  7. Stamp using Versamak ink, sprinkle with embossing powder and heat.  Once cool use the coordinating die to cut the greeting panel out.  Glue onto a piece of brown card and cut around to leave a narrow border. Mount to centre of card with 3D foam.
  8. Add Crystal drops to finish. Enjoy!

Rococo Music Juke Box Jive Card

Hi Everyone

MJ here.  Tonight I am sharing one of the cards I made for the Tonic Studios Rococo Music Collection shows.  I was asked how I made it so here is how I did it.  I hope you like it.

2000-01-01 00.01.25

What I Did

  • I have used a 7” x 7” white card blank for the base.
  • Next add a black layer to card front cut at 6 3/4”"” square.
  • Cut a piece of red card at 6 7/8” square.  Take the small note dies and cut them multiple times to form the background.  Glue this to the front of the card.
  • Cut the largest circle form the Circle Layering Die Set in black.  Then smaller circles in grey, red and white.  Glue together to make the record.  Add the record to card front.
  • Die cut the Juke Box in black, red and silver.  Glue the black die cut onto some yellow card and using the red and silver ones paper piece into the black layer.  Then cut around the completed Juke Box piece.  Use this cut out shape as a template and cut another yellow piece.
  • Now cut a strip of yellow card at 2” wide and that is long enough to go around the juke box shape.  Score in from either side at 1/2” down the length of the strip.  Cut teeth along both sides.
  • Glue the first side of the strip to the reverse side of the paper pieced juke box.  Next glue the juke box to the front of the card.  Once that is is position use the remaining yellow panel to glue inside the juke box to cover the tabs.
  • Add Black Crystal Drops to finish.

Where the HeArt is Challenge #3 – ‘Anything Goes/Winter Blue's

Hi Everyone

Well it’s getting colder by the day now so this month’s challenge theme seems really on target..lol  So today I am sharing with you my DT piece which is a small 5” x 7” canvas with lots of blues on it.  I’m sure it’s Christmas in the sea too!

seahorse image winter blues nov 15

To create the texture I have used Cambric and glued it to form loops for the sea.  I’ve used Oak House Studio spray Colour Chemistry Inks.  The digi image I used is called Beauregard SeaHorsy's Christmas coloured with Spectrum Noir Pens.  To add more texture I used a mix of micro beads and crushed glass glitter together with some shell embellishments found in my crafting hovel which were painted with Silks Acrylic Glazes.

You can get the digi image from from http://lacysunshine.weebly.com/christmas-shoppe.html

I hope you like it.

Crafting Musketeers Challenge #31 Anything But Square

Hi Everyone

It’s another month and another fabulous challenge over at Crafting Musketeers blog.

The theme this month is ‘Anything But Square’ so here is my project that will hopefully inspire you. xx

I have made an easel type card with a deep spine so that I could add the candle box at the front.  I have used one of my favourite Crafters Companion ranges (an old one though!) for all the printed parts and embossed areas.

Nov 15 Antyihgn But Square Challenge

The butterflies are from Spellbinders and the swirls are a Memory Box Die.

Nov 15 Antyihgn But Square Challenge

The sponsor for this month are the fabulous JGD Crafts .

Here is a little bit about them.

We are a friendly local business in the heart of Nottinghamshire, England. We specialise in both Card Making and Parchment craft products and tuition.  Janet Humphries (the owner) started her passion for what she does now as a hobby concentrating on mainly decoupage. After the shortage of local shops selling the goods she required, Janet then started running a business back in 2002 on a local market in Mansfield.

The prize is something of the sponsors choice.

And if you don't have your own blog , don't worry ,  remember we have a Facebook Page for you.

Post your entry onto. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Crafting-Musketeers-Challenge-BLOG/320703981385124

The challenge this month will end on 28th November at 8pm, so when you are ready please enter your project and best of luck .
