Pearly Peacock with Tonic Dies

Hi Everyone

Today Mandy-Jane wanted to play with a Tonic Studios die set.  It’s one of those that she had her eye on but wasn’t sure about until tonight!  She had a bird in mind and wanted to build a simple design around this theme.  So she thought long and hard (and it was a painful episode…lol) and 5 minutes later decided to go with a Peacock as this seems very popular at the moment.

20131121_235413

Once again MJ scrambled through her paper stash (even after a recent almighty clear out she still has quite a stash of the 'stroking’ and not using kinds!) she found a piece of 12” x 12” scrapbook paper from a Heartfelt Creations pad that was released earlier this year.

MJ used Tonic Studio’s Fanciful Flourish die set.  She cut out the largest of the designs and the corner 4 times each.  She then used her Silhouette Cameo and an old SVG cut file of a peacock (she had to cut it off in it’s prime and remove it’s fan).  She used the largest die cuts and glued them to the peacock shape to form it’s new plumes.  She covered the joins with paper roses in toning colours. And voila – a peacock!

MJ Used:-

Tonic Studios – Fanciful Flourish 492E

Paper Blossoms – The Craft Fairy

Creative Expressions – Self-Adhesive Cream Pearls

We hope you have been inspired.

Frosty Day for Molly Blooms

Hi Everyone

You can certainly feel the chill today…brrrrrrr!!  Stoke up them fires (or at least the central heating and fan heaters!).

Today Mandy-Jane decided that she needed to get her Molly Blooms 2013 Christmas Stamps out for a quick play.  The cool air inspired her to play with frosty colours and she couldn’t resist a little Frantage-ography too..lol

MJ routed around her craft room stash to find some papers (which were far far away in the back of a cupboard..unloved for a long time).  She managed to dig out a 6” x 6” pad of wintery colour combos…..bingo!!

20131120_204042

She has used GoKreate dies together with a couple of shapes she cut from her Silhouette Cameo including the snowflakes.  She coloured Molly using Distress Inks and a water brush.  After colouring she Frantaged Molly to within an inch of her life!  Mat and layered all pieces adding Guipure Lace and a bow to finish.

MJ Used: -

Molly Blooms Stamp – MB-0291 K

Distress Inks – Weathered Wood, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy,

Aged Mahogany, Festive Berrie

Go Kreate Dies – Frilly Square #4

Stampendous Fran-tage – Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel

We hope you have been inspired.

A Majestic Creation Again!

Hi Everyone

Mandy-Jane decided that she needed to make one more card for you to see using the Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25.  She loves this set of dies now that she has taken the time to have some quick plays with it!

It is so easy to create quick and easy cards with this set of wonderful dies.  You can make so many mix-n-match combos – too many to think about without her brain hurting – a bit like brain freeze after an ice cold milkshake..lol

Rather than just straight white on white today MJ had some gorgeous scrapbook paper to hand that was a pretty mix of peach and pink.  A little touch of colour completely changes the look of the card.  Also keeping the soft look by stamping a greeting in Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

White on White Half-time Christmas Card

Hi Everyone

Sounds odd?  Well, Mandy-Jane was banished to her craft room at half-time whilst hubby watched the rest of the footy!  Blooming cheek we say..lol

So this is a very quick post from MJ for you.

She has used her Spellbinders Majestic Labels Twenty-Five together with a Marianne Design Poinsettia Die.  The oval shape is from the Spellbinders Small Ovals and the leafy stems were cut on her Silhouette Cameo.

20131118_215822

Finished with a little Spray and Sparkle, a bow and a pearl.  Very quick, simple and clean cut.

We hope you have been inspired.

White on White Birthday Card

Hi Everyone

Mandy-Jane has been thinking about her Mother’s upcoming birthday card.  She knows that she likes purple and lilac and elegance.  So with that in mind MJ decided to go white on white and add the purple in the flower embellishments.

20131117_172558

She searched through her dies (well at least the ones she could get to as she blocked most of her collection in a cupboard behind her craft desk!! – she will be moving it soon).  Her Marianne’s came to hand so that’s what she went with.

MJ used:-

Marianne Designs LR0281 for the corners

LR0279 for the centre panel.

‘Happy Birthday’ stamp is from Stamps by Chloe – Everyday Mini Messages.

All the above were purchased ins store at Dandie Crafts.

The leafy branches were cut on the Silhouette Cameo.

We hope you have been inspired.

Sweet Things and Sweet Treats - Crafters Companion

We love, love, love this set of Crafters Companion embossing boards and the CD papers are to die for!  The papers have that vintage floral theme that you see in all the top housewares shops and in the wonderful 50’s films.

Today Mandy-Jane is sharing with you a Large Milk Carton project that she made recently for the launch of this fantastic set.

Mandy-Jane was shopping in Cardiff with her mother and had to pop into one of her favourite shops on the Hayes, The Kath Kidson store.  What a wonderful array of goodies they have and so inspired her to make this clean simple look.  A fabulous way to present a gift and make it so personal.

20130912_165402

Mandy-Jane has used the the CD and printed both side of 2 pieces of A4 white card and the roses have been cut from another A4 printed sheet cut and decoupaged.  The die used for the windows and frame is the Spellbinders classic small ovals.  She just added ribbon to finish.  How easy is it to make every box unique.

We hope you have been inspired.

These are great to work with and with so many ways to use them they are fabulous. We have them available in 9 colours; Fired Brick, Salty Ocean, Peeled Paint, Picket Fence, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserve, Spied Marmalade, Victorian Velvet and Wild Honey.

Distress Paints are very fluid water-based acrylic paints for multiple surfaces. Tim Holtz and Ranger developed these special paints to be reactive with water just like Distress Inks and Distress Stains—perfect to accomplish a wide variety of artistic techniques. Distress Paints have a convenient dabber system for easy and mess-free application. Use with stamps, paper, wood, metal, glass, plastic and more for a timeless matte finish on craft projects.

Creative Expressions A4 Embossing Folder Interlocking Circles – Back in stock for you.

NEW – Just Rite Stamps

Just arrived we have the Secret Garden and the Leafy background stamps. How gorgeous are these? No answer required because we know the answer!..lol

Use with your heat embossing and WOW powders especially in the new Vintage Inspired colour range and they would work well with the Distress Paints too. Mandy-Jane has got her thinking-inking cap on……and you know what that means….Inky Messy.

clip_image026 clip_image027

Also new in we have the large bottles of the Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue which is a firm favourite with all of you. So just think now you can buy it in a bigger bottle for even more gluing fun! Use it as a resist technique with your Distress Inks. Apply where you want the design or texture, let it dry and then ink over it with a blend of Distress Inks in your favourite colour scheme. Wipe off excess ink and there you have a fab resist effect.

So much has come in for you to browse (while we have stocks!). We have a lovely selection of Creative Expressions Grosgrain stripe ribbon, their NEW Crochet ribbon (by the metre) and beautiful two-one red ribbon as on TV recently together with NEW Singles Bauble stamps (which are selling fast with designs already sold out!)and matching Spellbinders dies.

clip_image029 clip_image031 clip_image033

Crafts Too

NEW Embossing folders have come in and they are such lovely designs. We know that not everyone likes to do large cards but the A4 size is so useful. If you are batch making cards it’s quick to pass an A4 piece of card through your die-cutting machine and then cut it in half to make 2 x A5 mats OR why not choose to do a fancy lid for your boxes. The designs you can choose from are; Christmas tree, Sleigh and Holly Border.

clip_image034 clip_image036 clip_image038

And not to disappoint all of you die-cutting devotees we also have some new Cheery Lynn dies in too. Also available are words; Husband, Wife and Sister.

Marianne Dies – Crafters Companion – Create and Craft 8th September 2013

Hi Everyone

Today I would like to share a couple of card samples using the gorgeous Marianne Die collections.  These dies are so intricate and beautiful that they make artists of us all!

I loved using the Kitchen Set together with the Circle and Flower – Stitch die set, and the Parchment and Label set.  In this sample I have also used the fabulous Romantic Journey Paper block and IndigoBlu stamps for the backgrounds (Honeycomb, Crackle and Script).

20130829_145503

In this second project I used the Circle and Flower – Stitch and the Heart is from a Marianne Collectables set.  Once again the Romantic Journey paper block has been used. I loved the soft colours of this paper.  I used PanPastels Tints to shade the flowers for a really pretty soft finish.

20130829_145302

Please join Crafters Companion on 8th September where they will be bringing Marianne Designs to Create and Craft.  The Design Team has been working hard making lots of cards and projects to inspire you.  You will find them hard to resist.

I am sure they are going to fly so make sure you tune in and get yours while they still have the stock.

We hope you have been inspired.

She's So Cute! Card Project for You xx

Hi Everyone

Today Mandy-Jane has been playing with the Hobby House Topper Pack using a Mo Manning design.

She is so cute (and we mean the image and not MJ!) and the colours are so soft.

The scrapbook papers make such wonderful backgrounds for cardmaking.  And you can get four 6" x 6" mats out of one sheet....brilliant!

What We Used: -

Hobby House Topper Pack - HHM0010

Exotic Orchid Core'dinations Card

Kaisercraft Scrapbook Paper - The Lake House Collection - Serenity

Dies from Spellbinders, Memory Box, Cheery Lynn and Joy!

McGill Punch - Pine Branch

Aged Mahogany Distress Ink

Distress Glitter - Spun Sugar

Paper Blossoms/ Lace

 How We Did It: -
  • The card base is 7" x 7".
  • The exotic orchid card has been cut to a 6 3/4" square.
  • The green printed paper is cut to a 6 1/2" square.
  • The floral paper is cut to a 6" square.
  • Distress all the squares using the Distress Ink.
  • Mat and layer these together.
  • Cut a piece of lace and wrap around the above.  Glue to front of card.
  • Die cut fancy circle for topper to sit on. Glue together.  Attach to centre of card with 3D glue Gel/foam pads.
  • Punch some pine branches out in a toning green, arrange on card and glue into place.
  • Add paper blossoms and die cut elements.
  • Add glitter highlights where wanted to finish card.

NEW Sneak Peek–1st Part of POW–Snowman and Snowdog CD and Stamps and bonus ‘Father Christmas’ CD–by Crafters Companion

Hi Everyone

Well this has been a fun launch to work with.  Who doesn’t love the Snowman story and now here is the another classic set for you.

Launching this Friday, 23rd August 2013, on Create and Craft TV – make sure you watch this or at least make sure you press record on your Sat TV!!

There were so many projects that I could have had a bash at so had to put a brake on myself to concentrate on only a few!  The Design Team have had a ball – you have got to watch and see all the wonderful creations they have been working on for you.  Check out the Crafters Companion blog for inspiration and tips.  On there you can link to all the DT blogs to see for yourself what they have been up to.

This project,  which is a 3D Advent Calendar, I loved doing - making the numbers topsey turvey for a bit of added interest!!  Keep ‘um guessing that’s what I say..lol

The papers are from the ‘Snowman and Snowdog’ CD.  The spotty one I will use year round because it’s ideal for many occasions and is great for scrapbooking too.  I used Weathered Wood Distress Ink around the edges to soften the look.  It’s made of 2 cubes which I made using my Ultimate Pro box maker and the sweetie dish was also made on the Pro tool.

20130814_184220

I used the Boxer Board to score the base holder.  I die cut some shapes on my Ecraft for the layers as well as the numbers inking the edges of these too.  The snowflakes were cut on the Ecraft but the Die’sire Snowflake Die set is fabulous as you get 4 different designs in the pack and they are full of detail.  So pretty.

I love the backing papers on this CD!

Please don’t miss the show and your chance to get hold of the fantastic POW’s – there are 2 parts to this launch!

We hope you have been inspired.

New Sneak Peek– 2nd Part of POW - Snowman and Snowdog Papercrating Kit from Crafters Companion.

Today I have a Sneak Peak from the new upcoming  POW on Create and Craft this Friday, August 23rd.  It is in two parts; the 1st part of the POW is  ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’ CD ROM and Stamps, a bonus ‘Father Christmas’ CD ROM.  The Second part is  ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’ papercrafting kit from Hunkydory which includes a free Father Christmas papercrafting kit, Acetate and 6x6 papers.  The kit is awesome!

20130817_000641

I have made a card using one of the A4 backing cards and a topper sheet from the kit.

20130817_000707

What I used: -

White Card Blank – 15cm x 15cm square
A4 Backing Card from Kit
Topper Sheet from Kit
Navy Core’dinations Card
Collall Tacky Glue/All Purpose Glue/3D Glue Gel
Ribbon – Snowman Ribbon Pack

What I did: -
  • Fold a piece of white card measuring 15cm x 30cm in half to make a 15cm x 15cm card blank.

  • Cut a piece from the A4 backing card to fit the front at 14.5cm x 14.5cm.  Wrap ribbon around this and then glue panel to the front of your card blank.

  • Cut another piece from the backing card to fit inside. Adhere this to right-hand side of inside of card.

  • With a piece of the remaining backing card make a pocket for the inside left-hand side of card and glue around 3 edges only leaving the top open.

  • Cut 2 pieces of card to make tags for pocket.  Stick these to navy card, punch a hole in top and thread ribbon through.

  • Take topper and using 3D Glue gel or foam pads layer the stacker topper together.  Stick to centre front of card.  Add ribbon, bow and greeting to finish.

A really easy card to make thanks to the elements and gorgeous designs found in this papercrafting kit.

We hope you have been inspired.

Stylised Flowers–Beginners Stamping Project

Hi Everyone

Mandy-Jane was chatting with a stamping ‘newbie’ this week who was saying that they were nervous of stamping?  So she was inspired by a recent visit to IndigoBlu and has done this very basic stamping project that does not require nerves of steel…lol

Let’s get together all the ingredients you will need to have a bash at this project.

You will need: -

  • IndigoBlu Stamp – Stylised Flowers – SFL
  • Slim Jim’s or acrylic block to fit stamp
  • Black Archival Ink Pad
  • Distress Inks – Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry
  • Dandie Crafts - Smooth White Card
  • Black Card
  • Blue Core’dinations Card Stock
  • Go Kreate Small Circle Dies

Are you ready?  Here we go!

  • Make a card blank measuring 18.5cm x 15cm.
  • Cut black card to 14.5cm x 18cm and adhere to centre front of card blank.
  • Cut white card to 11cm x 15cm – this is our stamping card.
  • Place stamp onto block and carefully ink whole of image, stamp it in the centre of the white card piece.

  • On a piece of scrap card die cut a 1 3/4” circle (or if you have a punch use that).

  • Using the negative of your die cut and the Distress Inks colour through this like a stencil with an Ink Duster Brush/blending tool or sponges on top of each image until you are happy with the colours.

  • Mount your stamped panel on a piece of blue card cut to 11.5cm x 15.5cm.  Adhere this panel to the centre front of your card.
  • Using the stamp and archival ink open your card and stamp part of the image in the bottom right-hand corner.

  • Use a White Gel pen to highlight details if you wish to.

There you go a very simple project that you can add your own finishing touches to.

We hope you have been inspired.
