Saturday - 8am & 1pm

Tuesday 8am

So here is my offering for you tonight.  I loved doing this card.  The papers work beautifully with this style of design.

Manaquin Patchwork Sep 15

What MJ Did

  • Start with an A4 piece of Kraft card folded in half to make card base.
  • Cut another piece of Kraft card to 5 1/2” x 8” and emboss it using your favourite Tonic embossing folder.  Colour around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and glue onto front of card.
  • Create a tag shape using Kraft card. Next choose some toning papers and die cut squares.  Glue these to cover tag.  Trim excess paper away.  Lightly ink around the edges once again with same ink as before.
  • Add lace to bottom and across middle of tag.
  • I used a chipboard piece for dress form which I made a skirt for from the same toning papers by cutting strips and gluing into place.  Add ribbon for belt.
  • Die cut the buttons, cotton reel, needle and flowers from Kraft card.  Ink around edges.
  • Use some string or wool to wrap the cotton reel with plus extra to thread through needle and to finish buttons.
  • Glue tag onto card and add embellishments and pearls to finish.

NEW Tonic Patchwork Perfection Collection

Hi Everyone, MJ here again!

Hope you are ready for Jodie at noon today with the launch of the NEW Patchwork Perfection Dies and Paper Collection.  It is glorious and I loved working with it.

So here is another of my projects for you to see.  This time I chose classic White and blue tones.

Navy and PAle Blue Easel Patchwork Perfection Sep 15

What MJ Did

  • Create a 6” x 6” easel card blank from white card.
  • Using one of the outer square edges cut navy card twice to make a square.  This will matt perfectly onto your base.  Make two squares.
  • Take a patchwork square inner die and cut it four times in the centre of each square.  This will make the lacy patchwork panels.
  • Cut two pieces of a lighter blue card slightly smaller than the navy square and glue to back of each panel.  Wrap a length of ribbon around the centre of one panel only.  Using foam pads on rear of this adhere to the front of the card.
  • Glue remaining square to inside base of card.
  • Cut a patchwork piece out of white card, trim and mount onto light blue and then navy.  Cut out the oval frame in white and the navy frame part. Add this to front of card together with small square panel.

Navy and PAle Blue Easel Patchwork Perfection Sep 15

  • Die cut a bow base piece and glue in position on bottom part of card.  Add a bow to finish.

Autumnal Colours - Crafting Musketeers Challenge #29

Hi Everyone

Are you up for another crafty challenge from the Crafting Musketeers?  I hope so as Autumn is here (or should I say Winter as it’s freezing in my gaff…lol)

This is a great challenge and we have a wonderful sponsor for this month the  fabulous Oak House Studio .

Here is a little bit about them.

Oak House Studio is a company based on one woman's passion and the people who share that passion.

Lynnda Worsnop has produced a number of stamp designs based on her drawings. We also use some stamp designs by Elaine Kettle and others. These designs are laser cut into a strong rubber-like polymer that makes them ideal for a range of crafts. Lynnda works with others to constantly increase the number of products that Oak House Studio brings along for you to use.

“Our designs have been featured on Create and Craft TV. This gave Lynnda the opportunity to demonstrate the products to a wider audience.

At Oak House Studio we supply products for crafters of all kinds. We are passionate about designing and producing the tools that allow you to be creative in the way you want to be. We look for versatility and usability”.

Here is MJ’s Autumnal Colours inspiration for you.

She has used all different tree stamps with inks and embossing powders to create the scene.  A handful of die cuts to decorate together with a sentiment.  An easy card full of rich autumn hues.

We hope you like it.

Here is my piece using a beautiful digi image from Chubby Mermaid called ‘Bliss’.  I hope you like it.

I have created this on a 60cm x 20cm canvas.  I used a selection of stencils with some Grunge Paste and a mix of embellishments.  Once dry I painted everything with a coat of white gesso before getting to the fun bit of colouring!  I took a selection of Blue and Green spray inks from Oak House Studio’s Colour chemistry range and spritz over the background and embellishments.  I printed the image and before painting it Imagination Crafts Starlight Paints I coated it with Clear Gesso.  This gave me a nice smooth surface to work on and protected the paper.  To finish it off I used some gilding wax and a little more Starlight Paint.

Don’t forget to pop over the blog and enter our challenge.  We are looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I hope you have been inspired.

Birthday Celebrations with NEW Tonic Studios Dies and Paper Range

Hi Everyone

MJ here.  I am back from holidays with some inspiration for you using the NEW Tonic Studios Birthday Die Sets together with the gorgeous 8” x 8” Premium Paper Pack range. I hope you saw the fabulous shows with Jo Austin.

The first card I am sharing is using paper from the Simply Nature paper pad together with an embossing folder and Happy Birthday die set.  For added sparkle I used Nuvo Glitter on to Double-sided adhesive paper.  The toning card is from the Tonic Essential Card Pack range.

Now onto the next card….

For this card I made a 6” x 6” white card blank cutting away one third of the front.  I matt and layered front pieces and inside of card using a combination of the Essentials Card Pack and papers from the Folksy Florals paper pad.  I created a topper using the Happy Birthday Greeting.  This was stuck in the centre front of card so that bottom panel was now attached to card.  I added decoration using leaves, a butterfly and a bow to finish.

Happy Birthday Die Sets

We hope you have been inspired.

The second card is using rich cream and gold and the Festive Flurry set.  MJ has used the inset border piece to create the lace background of the card.  There are so many ways to use these dies.

The background can be used for any time of the year and the whole panel could have flowers laid on it to replace the snowflakes.  Lots of ideas!
