The Snowman and Snow Dog Christmas Book

Hi Everyone

MJ thought she would quickly share a project she made recently for Crafters Companion as a step-by-step tutorial.

She chose a lovely pale blue paper from the Snowman CD together with some decoupage elements she created from the CD too.  A great project to do as a keepsake for the children – something that can be brought out year after year as part of the Christmas decorations.

This is the front of the book……

Die’sire Christmas Village Scene Card

Hi Everyone

Here’s another card from MJ using one of the latest Christmas die releases from Crafters Companion in their Die’sire range.

She has cut out the Christmas Village scene x 3 in Kraft card and cut away portions to give 3D effect.  MJ then mounted Snowfall Acetate to the rear of each layer.

On a 7” x 7” white card blank she matted some red spotty paper.  Next she cut a frame to fit the front of the snowy pieces.  Glue to the top layer.  With 3D foams pads MJ built up the layers and then mounted the completed scene to the front of the card adding a bow to finish.

What MJ Used

7” x 7” White Card Blank

Dir’sire Die – Christmas Village

A4 Kraft Card

Snowfall Acetate

Red Spotty Paper/Red Card

Ribbon

Once again this card is a quick easy project with simple layers.

We  hope you have been inspired.

Tonic Cards by Alison Whelan

Hi Everyone

We recently had a wonderful demonstration day with the equally fabulous Alison Whelan from Tonic Studios.  What a great day it was with Alison showing all the ladies and gents how to make some beautiful cards as well as lots of hints and tips to get the most out of Tonic dies.

We are very lucky to have some of Alison’s creations from her day with us so we thought we would share them with you for inspiration.

This card is so pretty when seen in the flesh as the colours are lovely soft pearlescent shades matching the vintage look of the picture.  In this card Alison has used the Twined Lily and a floral header die.

In this sample she has used the Dragonfly Delight die set.  How gorgeous is this set.  We love it.  The colours are a lovely mix of cream and gold.

Monochromatic is still so very popular in card making and scrapbooking and Alison has got lots of texture and layering in in this project. So pretty!  She has used the Envelope Set 2 together flower head and Mini daisy punches.

Sunny Yellow and Black have made this card a stand out project because of the contrasts used.  Once again Alison has the Envelope Set 2 and also Happy Birthday and Frond Finesse sets and  Daisy punch to finish.

The last card is so fresh looking - clean and simple look.  Alison has used the Daisy Square set and You Make Everything Perfect die set.

Altered Book Project with Karen Clare

Hi Everyone

What a fabulous day MJ has had today with Karen Clare up in Pink Tulip Creations.  Firstly, thanks to all at Pink Tulip for their great hosting of this workshop and then a huge Thank you to Karen Clare for showing us so many techniques in one day!

Here is how MJ's book turned out....she had a thoroughly enjoyable day together with Sharon. Xx

This is how it started.....

This is how it finished.....

Love the way it layered up with all the textural pieces we were given to use on our books.

Once we added pastes, materials, inks, stains and gilding waxes the books came to life!  The other ladies and gents projects were amazing!  Not one was anything like the other.  Each book an individual work of art.

We hope you have been inspired.

Hi Everyone

MJ is happy to share with you today a project that she has been working on for the Brand New addition to the Brambly Hedge Collection from Crafters Companion launching on 5th September on Create and Craft TV as Pick of the Week.  Her project will be available as a step-by-step project over on Crafters Companion blog very soon with a full ingredients list so you can play too.

Bramley Hedge SO Aug 2014 - TC 6

She has used 2 mini canvases to make this cute little keepsake book.  All the paper designs used are from ‘The Secret Staircase and Poppy’s Babies’ CD and all printed on Satin Finish Paper by Crafters Companion.

There are 4 x A5 Rubber Stamp set; The High Hills, Sea Story, The Secret Staircase and Poppy's Babies.  Take the stamp image, add to a Rocker-a-Block with Stick and Spray, ink and stamp.  Use your Spectrum Noir pens and pencils to get fantastic results with your colouring but to get the best results use Neenah and Desert Storm card stock - it’s fabulous to use with the pens and pencils.

If you are a beginner colourerinerer (as MJ likes to say) then take a look at the Leann’s Spectrum Noir Tutorial CDs – they are packed with hints and tips to start you on your colouring journey.  You’ll be amazed at how far you will come in a short amount of time with Leann’s help.
