Hi Everyone

Well what a day we had on Sunday!! It was an early start at the NEC Trade show as we had lots to go and see and workshops to participate in (inky messy fun....great!). The day went really well but the evening went REALLY well!

After the trade show part we had been asked to attend the British Craft Awards 2013 in the evening so along we went. Sat at a table with great company - the lovely Kim Sutton and team together with the IndigoBlu team. Before the main event there was a quiz but me and Debbie let you down there sorry and only managed a poor 21!!!! Nevermind. After general introductions of the awards and sponsors etc the proceedings began.

'The first award is the Craft Retailer of the Year - Wales..............and the winner is Dandie Crafts......woooo hoooooo.

So we would like to say a big THANK YOU to all our wonderful customers, family and friends for voting for us. We couldn't have had such a fab year without you.

Visible Image Stamps–Weave and Polka Dot Backgrounds

Hi Everyone

Mandy-Jane has been playing with Visible Image stamps again!!  There’s no holding her back when new ‘stuff ‘ arrives…lol

She's using soft colours to give a really girly look today and to pop some colour onto the blog.  The last two she has done have been in creams and brown – so it’ll make a nice change for a day or two.

Mandy-Jane has coloured white card with Distress Inks in Victorian Velvet and Tumbled Glass using Ink Dusters.  These pieces were stamped using the same colour inks with the Weave and Polka Dot background.  She then cut each piece into squares and adhered them alternately to the some white card.  A length of ribbon was attached across the centre and then the panel was mounted onto a card base.

A beautiful Hobby House – Mo Manning Topper was glued to centre of card base together with some punch art flowers also coloured and stamped with the Polka Dot image.  From left over stamped card Mandy-Jane punched hearts out and added to card.  To finish she added a bow and pearls.

Ooooh It’s All Gone a Little Tim Holtz Stylee

Hi Everyone

Today Mandy-Jane thought she would use a couple of stamps she has had a while to create a quick but stylish card (or at least that’s what she hopes you will see..lol).
Although the stamps used are not available at Dandie Crafts we do have some wonderful Visible Image stamps arriving in store this Saturday…and we can’t wait. Some of them will suit this style very well.
Mandy-Jane has used Stampers Anonymous – Urban Tapestry set of stamps (she lusted after them for a while but eventually succumbed to them!).  The Sheena Highland Silhouette stamp set works beautifully for a similar look to your project.  This could be a card or the start of a scrapbook page.  Maybe that’s what she will try next!

Apologies for the photo quality but bear with us – thanks.
Firstly, Mandy-Jane spritzed a piece of cream card using Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist in Pearl Gold and dried with a heat tool.
Next she took Tim Holtz’s Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass and working from her non stick craft sheet, she used a small paint brush and brushed it around all the edges until she got the colour she was after.  Not being precise to give an aged look.
Using the dotty stamp and Rangers Archival Ink in Jet Black she stamped randomly over the card.  Added the stamped corners and used Walnut Stain Distress Ink all the way around to soften the effect.  Mat and layer onto black card and then a cream base card.
To get the cork shape; as the cork sheet was too thick to go through the Grand Caliber she drew around a Spellbinders Die and cut it out.  The bird was stamped in the Archival Ink first and then over stamped to give a little shadow with the Tarnished Brass Distressed Stain.  Edge the die cut with a gold coloured pen.  Here a Sakura Pen Touch Calligrapher was used.  This was then adhered to the card.  Mandy-Jane also added gold highlights to a couple of the corner stamps.
To finish the card Mandy-Jane cut some swirly shapes using Memory Box dies and made rollie roses to match.
Inks Used: -
Distress Stain – Tarnished Brass
Distress Ink – Walnut Stain
Rangers Archival Ink – Jet Black
Luminarte Radiant Rain – Pearl Gold
Sakura Pen Touch Calligrapher – Gold
We hope this has inspired you.

Hi Everyone

Mandy-Jane has been having a little fun with the New Darice Honeycomb Embossing Folder.   She always says to think outside the box as you can see in her previous post where she made daffodils from the same folder.  This time Mandy-Jane has been thinking more tropical……obviously she needs a holiday..lol

Sneaky Peek–Angelica and Friends–Crafters Companion

Hi Everyone

Today Mandy-Jane has a sneaky peek for you at the upcoming new range from Crafter's Companion UK.  Angelica and her friends will be launching on Monday 4th Feb on Create and Craft TV and even better they will be a 4 Day Deal!  How fabulous is that!

20130131_221931

The choice you have on the CD is amazing.  Beautiful backing papers, topper, decoupage and everything in between and outside!  It was hard to decide which designs to use…but Mandy-Jane eventually went for the Lilacs and Beiges using Stained Walnut Distress Ink to soften the colours.  And there right on the front is one of the gorgeous angels.

20130131_222045

These backing papers are gorgeous as a stand alone crafting essential.  This paper is so elegant and charming.  Just think of wedding cards done in these shades.  The embellishments, borders and sentiments are so useful for all your finishing touches.

Everything tones in together to give a professional finish to your projects.

20130131_222231

The most difficult thing was choosing a design amongst the hundreds of printable elements on the Angelica and Friends CD.  She really thinks that Crafters Companion have pulled out all the stops with this one and it will be a classic in your collection.

We hope you have been inspired.
