Sew Pretty Silhouette Flap Card

Hi Everyone

MJ here with a card that I made for the Tonic Studios Craftinator on Create and Craft this week.

I wanted to show how versatile the new sets are and how they work beautifully with the basic layering square die set.

Here it is and I hope that you like it. :)

How I made the Flap Part of Card

  1. Cut a white piece of card to 5 5/8" x 5 5/8".
  2. Use the largest Pinhole die, tape in position and cut.
  3. Next take a layering square (3rd size down in set) tape and cut only 3 sides as in picture.
  4. Then repeat this step using pinhole die 3 down and layer square 6 down.
  5. Repeat again using pinhole die 6 down and layer square 9 down.
  6. Lastly use pinhole die 10 down.
  7. The flap part will look like this when all cutting is done.
  8. Score along the uncut lines and fold gently upwards.
  9. Then you will need to add some pretty papers to the back of each layer apart from the top square.
  10. Then I have added a square of burgundy card cut to 5 3/4" and glued the bottom layer to this leaving a narrow border.
  11. Now the fun part decorate using all the new Sew Pretty Die sets.  Enjoy!

Cotswold Creative Storage Unit from Tonic Studios - #2

Hi Everyone

MJ here. Today I would like to quickly share my second make for Tonic Studios launch of the Cotswold Creative Storage unit.

This launches today at 3pm with Jodie on Create and Craft - hope you've set your TV to record :)

On this project I decided to use my paints again but making it Folksy in style.

Here it is and I hope you like it :)

Once I had glued my unit together I gave it two coats of a black chalk finish acrylic paint and let it dry completely (you can use a heat tool but I wanted a nice cuppa and a biccie before I moved on..lol ).

Next I moved onto the painting with small roses in purple and white.  I used the Folk It! technique which is really quick and easy to do and worked perfectly in this project.  I painted the roses onto both sides and also in the centre of each level.

When the paint was dry I added some purple card to the base of each layer to finish.

What I Used

Forever Moments Cotswold Creative Storage – 989e
Funky Glue Pen – 29.5ml – 421E

Paints Used

PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Paints - Little Black Dress/Snowflake/Guacamole/Lavender

We hope you have been inspired.

NEW Cotswold Creative Storage Unit from Tonic Studios

Hi Everyone

MJ here with another fabulous NEW product from Tonic Studios.  It is made from high quality MDF with a smooth finish.  It is very simple to put together and then the fun begins!

Jodie will be launching them on Create and Craft at 3pm on Thursday 4th February.  This is a fantastic way to store your Nuvo products and you get to decorate it however you want.

Today I am showcasing one of the Cotswold pieces that I made for the show.

I have used a mix of paints and crackle paints from Decoart to make the distressed paint effect and the rusted die cut elements. It was a lot of fun to do.  I wanted it to look as if someone had found it in an old house they had moved into and that looked as if it had been repainted many times.  But I have given it a subtle teal colour wash as well.

I hope you like it.

What I Used

Tonic Studios Tangerine Die Cutting Machine

Paints Used

Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics
Titan Buff/Raw Umber/Paynes Grey/Quinacridone Gold/Cobalt Turquoise Hue
Decoart Media - Texture Sand Paste

We hope you have been inspired.
