Autumnal Colours - Crafting Musketeers Challenge #29

Hi Everyone

Are you up for another crafty challenge from the Crafting Musketeers?  I hope so as Autumn is here (or should I say Winter as it’s freezing in my gaff…lol)

This is a great challenge and we have a wonderful sponsor for this month the  fabulous Oak House Studio .

Here is a little bit about them.

Oak House Studio is a company based on one woman's passion and the people who share that passion.

Lynnda Worsnop has produced a number of stamp designs based on her drawings. We also use some stamp designs by Elaine Kettle and others. These designs are laser cut into a strong rubber-like polymer that makes them ideal for a range of crafts. Lynnda works with others to constantly increase the number of products that Oak House Studio brings along for you to use.

“Our designs have been featured on Create and Craft TV. This gave Lynnda the opportunity to demonstrate the products to a wider audience.

At Oak House Studio we supply products for crafters of all kinds. We are passionate about designing and producing the tools that allow you to be creative in the way you want to be. We look for versatility and usability”.

Here is MJ’s Autumnal Colours inspiration for you.

She has used all different tree stamps with inks and embossing powders to create the scene.  A handful of die cuts to decorate together with a sentiment.  An easy card full of rich autumn hues.

We hope you like it.

Canvas Cameo using Tonic Studios Ascot Pillowbox and Lych Gate Wish Die Sets

Hi Everyone

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend.  Tonight MJ has an easy to do canvas project for you to have a look at.  She loves these new dies and has lots of ideas of things you can do with them.
This canvas is such an easy project so is great for beginners too.

MJ has used an 8” x 8” box canvas.  She cut the border insert die from mirri card and used this as a stencil with Grungepaste to create textured borders top and bottom of piece and dried with a heat tool.  Then she painted the canvas all over with a chalk finish acrylic paint, once that was dry MJ used the Forever Moments Large Crackle Base coat as per instructions.  Then added the Crackle Top Coat and left to dry.  MJ added Gilding Paste across the raised areas.  She added a little script stamp using Tree Branch Archival Ink.

Next MJ cut the silhouetted ladies head from black card, stuck this to an oval of cream card and using Vintage Photo Distress Ink coloured all over and left to dry.  Then using Versamark Ink and Ultra High Gloss embossing powder she heat embossed over all the surface of the piece.  Leave to cool and then bend to form cracks to age it.  Next it was layered into another coloured oval shape.

MJ next stuck lace and ribbon across front of canvas, added ribbon tails to rear of cameo piece and glued to the centre front, adding a matching bow to finish.

We told you it was easy to do!

What MJ did: -

  1. Cut a 5” x 5” square of white card for stamping.
  2. Select 3 smaller stamps from set and create a design to cover card using Distress Inks; Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade.
  3. Then go over entire stamped piece lightly with Peacock Feathers ink.
  4. Next take the large floral stamp and stamp randomly over stamped panel using Versamark Ink.  Add clear embossing powder and heat.
  5. Once the embossed images are cool take Aged Mahogany DI and colour over entire surface until you are happy with the blend.  Buff ink from embossed areas.
  6. Use Archival ink to stamp the Celebrate image.
  7. All that’s left to do is mat and layer to suit and add ribbon and pearls.
