Fairy Elegance with Tonic Studios

Hi Everyone

Everywhere is bursting with colour getting ready for the summer so MJ thought that is what she would do too using soft oranges and yellows.

We hope you like it so here is how MJ made it for you.

Fairy Elegance 11.06.15

  1. Make a base card using 2 pieces of A4 card to measure 8 1/2” x 7 1/2”.
  2. Mat a piece of orange card measuring 8 3/8” x 7 3/8” onto card front.
  3. Mat a piece of pretty paper on card front measuring 7 1/4” x 8 1/4”.
  4. Using the Art Nouveau Layering Set, cut the largest outer frame in orange.
  5. Then using the largest verso part cut into yellow card and then place the outer frame on and cut out.  Glue onto large orange piece.
  6. Using the next size down repeat cutting an outer orange piece and then use the pretty paper to cut verso part as above.  Glue the paper to the orange base.
  7. Cut out Fairy Lily in a pale peachy tone card twice. Cut from below her waist and the straight part of her legs.  On the second fairy we just need the straight leg part.  Glue the leg pieces across each other as in picture.
  8. Cut out 5 x Star Trail to use as her skirt, some flowers and butterflies together with a sentiment.
  9. Glue large oval piece to front of card.  Then using foam pads add the top oval layer.
  10. Arrange and glue skirt pieces to fairy body and stick to top oval layer.  Adhere legs under skirt bottom.  Add butterflies and flowers.

11.  Using Nuvo Crystal Drops add your design around the edges and to corners of card.

12.  To finish add the greeting.

NEW – Verso Felicity Butterfly Stamp and Die Set from Tonic

Hi Everyone

Today MJ is giving you a peek at one of the gorgeous new Verso die and stamp sets from Tonic Studios.  Watch out this Saturday 25th April on Create and Craft for the wonderful Weekender shows.  The Design Team have been hard at it making the most fabulous projects to inspire you.  They truly are out of this world.

Felicity Verso pack apr 156

MJ wanted to give you a couple of quick and easy home decor projects that will she hopes inspire you to have a go too.

She was looking through her crafting stash and came upon some scraps of vinyl left from some project she made a couple of years ago and thought it would be ideal with the Felicity set of dies.  So she got to it and it was finished literally in minutes!

Felicity Butterfly Laptop - Apr 15

MJ decided that her laptop needed some love and attention (as she says it’s a girl…how she knows this don’t ask!).  She used white vinyl scraps to pretty it up.  She is now going to do her tablet, phone and maybe buy some car vinyl and decorate that too…lol  There is no end to what you can do with the dies.

Next MJ wanted a quick but beautiful picture to hang in her bedroom.  She cut the Felicity Butterfly Set in Yellow and Purple and keeping it clean and simple she worked with black and white card for the background elements.  The Royal Fern die set is just right for the butterflies to perch on.  All she has to do now is pop to Ikea to buy a box frame and viola!  Complete.

A Host of Golden Daffodils Card – Tonic Studios Plush Peony

Hi Everyone

Spring is almost upon us (thankfully) and soon all will be green.  So tonight MJ is sharing a card she made with Mother’s Day in mind and St David’s Day fast approaching.

But this is only a quick share!  So here it is…..

MJ has used the Tonic Studios Plush Peony Die Set to make the daffodils and also to create the backing panels.

Host of Golden Daffodils Feb 2015

She started with card cut to 8 1/4” x 12” and scored at 4” and 8” to make the tri-fold card base.  Then MJ cut the panels into the card, layered yellow card behind all 3 panels.  She cut the centre panel topper using just the outer cut dies of the set.  The leaves were made by folding a strip of green paper over and cutting a half leaf shape out.  The sentiment was cut from ‘If Friends Were Flowers’ die set.

What Was Used

Tonic Studios Plush Peony Die Set

Tonic Studios If Friends Were Flowers Die Set

Tonic Studios Royal Fern Die Set

Tonic Studios Funky Glue Pen

Core’dinations Gemstones Card – Cityscape

Pure Sheen Flowers – Tonic Studios

Hi Everyone

Hope you have all had a great day.

MJ here with another project for you showcasing Tonic’s new Verso Flower Panels.  In this card I have used the Radiant Roselily die set together with the glorious new Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitters and Crystal Drops.

The colours range in the glitters is out of this world and when paired up with the Crystal Drops to add the finishing touch…well need I say anymore?  I don’t think so.  Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

I made an 8” x 8” card base from dark brown card and matted some Core’dination card in Aruba (I think that’s what it’s called?).  I then die cut the central panel using double-sided adhesive paper onto card and then peeling the top layer off and coating with the brown glitter.  I also die cut some of the flowers in the set the same way as above and coated half with the brown glitter and the others with the pale blue glitter.  These were then layered up with a 3D glue gel and left to dry.

Flower Trellis 2 - Feb 15

Then I layered up some brown and blue card and glued this to the centre front of the card base adding the flourishes as I went. Next I added the brown glitter panel on top together with the flowers.  To finish the card I used some Crystal Drops in the flower centres and corners of the card.  The final touch was to add the bow.  Viola!

Flower Trellis 2 - Feb 15

What Was Used

Tonic Studios Verso Radiant Roselily Die Set

Tonic Studios Royal Fern Die Set

Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitters – Chocolate and Aqua

Nuvo Crystal Drops – Neptune

Crafting Musketeer’s February Challenge #22 - Cute

Hi Everyone

It’s Challenge time – wooo hooo! and it’s a fab one this month too.

This month the theme is ‘Cute’ and the sponsor for this is the fabulous Cuddly Buddly.

Here is a little bit about them.

10433309_888225711209470_1044831130311454407_n

"Cuddly Buddly® is an independent online craft supplies business based in the UK. We understand how important it is to help people keep enjoying their creative hobbies and offer a wide selection of craft products from paper and string to designer digital art, ready to be delivered to you at just the click of a button.

How on earth, you may wonder did we arrive at the name 'Cuddly Buddly'. When Kim began drawing her teddy bears many of her customers commented on how they felt the little bears made you want to cuddle them. Hence the name, Cuddly Buddly - a family term of endearment we use especially towards younger members when a seriously squishy hug is being sought. Since then the name's stuck, like honey to a bear's paw!"

The prize for this challenge is a £10 Gift Voucher for the store.

So here is my offering this month using one of the fab Cuddly Buddly digi images and some gorgeous backing papers from them too.  She is adorable!

Feb 15 Cuddly Buddly

I have coloured using some Copic Ciao and Spectrum Noir pens this time around onto Neenah Solar White card.

Feb 15 Cuddly Buddly

Once I had finished colouring her I started to work on my card layout.

First I matted some Core’dinations card on to my blank 6” x 6”.  Next I distressed a piece of gingham backing paper and added this.  I loved the heart design so chose this as my next layer distressing the edges as before.  The rectangular circle paper was backed with Core’dination card and was glued to the front.  Then I added all the pretty stuff; a doily, some lace and ribbon.  To finish I glued my image to some card and popped her on top of my other elements, added my greeting disc and bow together with a couple of metal corners that I had painted over with Picket Fence Distress Paint.  Viola!

Classic Cameos and Thinking of You – Tonic Studios Newest Release

Hi Everyone

Snow has been and gone with us and was replaced with lots of thunder and flashing lights but at least it’s not snow..phew!!

MJ has been wrapped up all warm and cosy in her craft hovel creating a quick little project for you with a couple of the fabulous new releases from Tonic Studios launched this week live from California (lucky them we say!).

MJ has worked with elements of the ‘Thinking of You’ Die Set together with the ‘Cameo Creative Classic Cameos Set 1.  She says it each time but this is a fantastic collection with such value built into the sets with the amount of dies you get in one set!

To start this card she took a 6” square card base.  Embossed a piece of Co-ordinations card and inked over lightly using a Distress Ink to pick up detail and soften the colour.  Then MJ took some vintage pink toned ribbon, tied it in the centre to create the dip, and then wrapped it across the front of the embossed card before gluing to front.

Cameo 1 - Jan 15

Next she die cut the border from the ‘Thinking of You ‘ set together with a matching corner.  Also cut 3 sprigs from the ‘Royal Fern’ die set and 2 ovals using the basic set.  Layered the ovals together, added sprigs.

Cameo 1 - Jan 15

MJ had to alter the colour of the cameo from it’s rich tan colour to a burgundy tone to match her card stock.  She did this by painting with some acrylic paint.  When dry it was added to oval plaque.  Using glue gel the cameo panel was added on top of the ribbon and left to dry.

Cameo 1 - Jan 15

To finish the card MJ added the border, corners and pearls.  Voila! Done.

What MJ Used

Tonic Studios Thinking of You Die Set – 191E

Tonic Studios Royal Fern Die Set – 657E

Tonic Studios Mixed Oval Layering Die Set – 485E

Tonic Studio Cameo Creative Classic Cameos Set 1 –51E

Tonic Studios Funky Glue – 420E

Embossalicious 8” x 8” Folder – Regal Swirl

Co-ordinations Card

Distress Ink – Victorian Velvet

Watch out for more projects that MJ will be sharing with over the next few days.

We hope you have been inspired.

Scruffy Little Kat – Sneak Peek – Launches 9th May –Crafters Companion

Hi Everyone

Just a very quick post for you today.  It’s been so exciting for MJ using these fab stamps and CD.  Scruffy Little Kat is so hip and trendy!

MJ has used her Spectrum Noir pens to colour her in.  She also worked with the Papercrafting CD using the design sets and coordinating papers to create a funky layout to the project.

Firstly MJ looked through the CD which took her a long time as it is jam packed with printables including the papers, embellishments and sentiments plus loads more stuff, and chose papers in peachy/pink tones. Then she matched the colours up with her Speccies.

She chose to use:

Clothes and Hairband CR6, CR7 and CR9
Skin – TN1, TN2, FS2, FS8
Hair – GB2, GB5, GB7 and GB9

20140415_234050

Then she added her mats and layers to make the base card.  It finished looking like this!

Please tune in to Create and Craft on (@createandcrafttv) 9th May to see the launch of this gorgeous brand with Crafters Companion.

Please don’t miss the live shows with Dawn Wheeler where she will be showing you how to get the best from these CD’s and see what a great job the Design Team has done in giving you lots of inspiration.

MJ has used a selection of elements from the Male CD for her little peeks for you.

20140326_165627

This card is great for a teenager.  She choose a decoupage image, a border sheet and a background paper taken from the Design Set section.  To finish she added some matching coloured eyelets.

20140326_165627

For the next project MJ has taken a coordinating backing paper, sentiment and embellishment sheets and Spray and Shine to glaze the guitars.  A very simple and quick card to do.  She finished it some star brads and an insert created from the Design Set section.

20140326_172949

For this Tag card MJ has used the Tag Compnaions section on the CD.  She created a tri-fold card using her Ultimate Pro tool.  She 3D’d the potting shed by printing image out twice and cut out the windows on the top one.  T finish she used sentiments, bottle embellishments and a die cut from her crafting stash.

We hope you have been inspired.

7th March 2014 – 12 Noon - Rachel Anne Miller with Crafters Companion – Sneak Peek

Hi Everyone

Well it’s been an odd week for MJ so here are a couple of Sneak Peeks from tomorrow’s Crafters Companion Pick of the Week on Create and Craft TV with the lovely Dawn Wheeler.  She will be showcasing the NEW Rachel Anne Miller CD’s and Stamps for you.

MJ loved working with them (but doesn’t she always!).  Once again she has been blown away by the fabulous backing papers available on the CD’s.  There is such a range of gorgeous printable elements to this set that it makes it hard to choose which ones to start with!

There’s images for both boys and girls and the animal designs are to die for (and we mean die cutting..lol).  The cute little boy in his cape was MJ’s first stop in this crafting adventure.

20140227_220159   20140227_220218

You even have brilliant shaped cards to make.  Just print, cut out and add all your favourite embellishments; there are lots to choose from on the CD.

20140228_061756

And then there are the stamps – so cute, adorable and fun!

In the project below MJ has used one of the stamp sets coloured using her Spectrum Noir Pens together with a lovely coordinating backing paper and Die’Sire dies.

20140227_220725

This cute little box drawer was made using one of the coordinating backing papers and a card companion set.  She used the matching greeting panels and added the ‘4 you’ using the alphabet section.  It’s so easy to work with these designs as the hard work is done for you.  All you need to do is decide on the colours you want to use.

20140227_221537

The fun element was key to MJ for her samples.  There are so many ways to use them.  She only touched the surface with some simple projects.  Please take a look on Crafters Companion FB and blog pages for more adorable projects to inspire you from the Design Team.  You will love what you see and will be champing at the bit to have a go yourselves.  Another classic!

20140227_221140

Please don’t miss the shows starting tomorrow at 12 noon.  Quick get the Sky+ remote and press record now so that you don’t miss one single idea!

We hope you have been inspired.
