Retro Roses Card Tutorial – Oak House Studio Stamps

MJ here once again.  Today I wanted to share another little stamping project I made for Oak House Studio’s recent shows on Hochanda.  I hope you caught them Lynnda was great.

Here is an easy card for you and I hop you like it.

 

 

What MJ Did

1. Take a 6” x 6” square of watercolour card and a 6” x 2” strip too.
2. Next I used Bottled Sunshine, Watermelon and Jubilee Red, an ink blending tool and a spritzer bottle with water in it.
3. Start by spritzing the card with a little water.  Then I added some bottled sunshine in 3 areas of the square and then added some watermelon.  I blended them together with my foam until I was happy with the result. Repeat for the strip.
4. Next  I chose 3 stencils (a mix of Andy Skinner’s and Finnabair stencils).  I inked through the stencils with Jubilee Red ink using the ink blending tool.
5. Using the rose stamp I put a little of the Brazil Nut ink onto a piece of cut and dry foam and used that to ink the stamp.  Stamp randomly around the pieces.
6. Take the circle cluster stamp and ink with Versamark ink.  Next lightly mist the stamp with water (by using the Versamark on the stamp first it holds the water in place on the stamp).  Stamp onto card, hold for a few seconds, lift off and blot with kitchen roll.  This will give you a ghosting effect.  Repeat all over. 
7. Mount the square on to black card and  glue to front of card.
8. Mount the strip onto black card and glue to lower half of card front.
9. Colour a scrap of watercolour card with the inks.  Stamp sentiment on using Brazil Nut ink.  Mount on to black card.  Attach with 3D foam.
10. To finish take some bandage. Put some drops of inks onto a craft sheets.  Spritz the bandage/Cambric with water and then dip into the inks to colour.  Dry.  Make a bow.

Oak House Studio – Trees Stamp Set

 

Hi Everyone

MJ has gone stamping tonight for her post using the fabulously versatile Oak House Studio’s Pure Colour Chemistry Inks and Pads together with the Tree Stamp Set.

Look out on Hochanda this Friday, 4th December at 3pm and 6pm where the lovely and very talented Lynnda Wornsop will be showing you lots of inspiration with Oak House Studio products.  So set your Sky+ to record so you don’t miss a single idea.

Onto tonight’s project – simple and easy to do.

 

 

What I Did

1. Fold a piece of A4 card in half to make an A5 card blank.
2. Cut a piece of ivory card 5 3/4” x 8 1/8”.  Glue to front of card.
3. Cut a piece of ivory card to required length of scene you would like to create.
4. Next take the Triple Autumn Pigment ink pad and an Ink Duster Brush. 
5. Punch a paper circle out and spray the back lightly with repositionable glue and stick down where you want it to be.
6. Using sweeping motions along the length of the card piece colour the background.  I started with the yellow first blending it down to nothing at bottom. Then I used the orange blending mostly at the top of the piece gradually lightly blending into the yellow.  Next I coloured the bottom with the green.
7. Lastly add a light dusting of the burgundy ink just at the top.
8. Take off circle and very lightly sweep the brush (no need to add any further ink to the brush) across the white circle area to tone it down a little.
9. Take a black ink pad (here I used a Versafine ink pad) and stamp the tree design.
10. Mat and layer your stamped piece onto black card then, green, orange and finish with black.  Colour a scrap of card to match project and mat and layer as above.
11. Glue the main image panel to the top left-hand of the base card and add the greeting panel.
12. Enjoy!

Where the HeArt is Challenge #3 – ‘Anything Goes/Winter Blue's

 

Hi Everyone

Well it’s getting colder by the day now so this month’s challenge theme seems really on target..lol  So today I am sharing with you my DT piece which is a small 5” x 7” canvas with lots of blues on it.  I’m sure it’s Christmas in the sea too!

 

To create the texture I have used Cambric and glued it to form loops for the sea.  I’ve used Oak House Studio spray Colour Chemistry Inks.  The digi image I used is called Beauregard SeaHorsy's Christmas coloured with Spectrum Noir Pens.  To add more texture I used a mix of micro beads and crushed glass glitter together with some shell embellishments found in my crafting hovel which were painted with Silks Acrylic Glazes.

Sunshine Daisies – with Oak House Studio

 

Hi Everyone

MJ thought she would share some more inspiration from Oak House Studios.  She loves a stamp and bit of gorgeous ink!

Both of the following cards were made with MJ’s favourite Oak House Studio Double Daisy Stamp Set.

The first card is bright and cheery and would brighten someone’s day up.

 

What MJ Did

• Create an A5 white card base.
• Cut a panel red layer at 8” x 3 1/2”, a green layer at 7 7/8” x 3 3/8” and a white piece of watercolour card at 7 3/4” x 3 1/4”.
• Mat the green and red together and add to front right-hand side of the card.
• Next take the daisy outline stamp and using black archival ink stamp the image twice onto the watercolour panel overlapping the the left-hand daisy off the edge of the card.. Then using the daisy border and the same ink stamp the image on a horizontal angle.  Draw stems for the large and small daisies.
• Take another piece of watercolour card and using Jubilee Red Pure Colour mixed with water in a spray bottle, spritz the card to cover until happy with the shade.  Paint the flower stems with Citrus Lime ink.  Leave to dry.
• Use the large daisy outline again and stamp onto the spritzed card.  Cut out.
• Attach stamped watercolour panel to card front and add the daisy cut outs.
• Stamp the Sunshine greeting onto a piece of white card and cut into a flag shape and layer onto red card.  Trim to leave a narrow border. Shape and add to card front to finish.
• Enjoy!

MJ’s second card is vibrant and zesty but very quick and easy to do.

 

 

What MJ Did

• Using a 7” x 7” white square card blank create a bright green mat cut to approx. 6 1/2” x 6 1/2”.  Adhere to card front.
• Cut a white piece of card to 5 1/2” x 5 1/2” and then a black piece to 5 5/8” x 5 5/8”.  Add the black piece to card front.
• Next take the large outline daisy stamp and using black archival ink stamp the image to create a background as shown. 
• Take some Citrus Lime ink and put onto a craft sheet.  Using a wet brush pick up the ink and colour the daisies.  Leave to dry.
• Stamp a row of black daisies using the border stamp.  Trim to create a strip.  Mount this into some green and black card leaving a narrow border top and bottom.  Glue across centre of cad towards the bottom of card.
• Take the Sunshine greeting and stamp with black ink onto white card.  Trim to size and layer onto green and black card.  Use 3D foam pads and mount on top of daisy strip.
• Enjoy!

Delightful Daisies with Oak House Studios

Today MJ is sharing a couple of quick and easy card projects with you that she made for a recent Hochanda show using fabulous inks and stamps from Oak House Studios.  We hope you caught the shows.

This first card was made using the Daisy Stamp Set.  This set is a very versatile with a great large Daisy outline stamp together with an abstract shadow stamp.

 

 

What MJ Did

• Take a 7” x 7” card blank and layer a 6 1/2” red square and then a 6 1/4” white square onto the front of the card.
• Cut a 6” square of Kraft card.  Using the daisy shadow stamp create a design with the Triple Vintage Browns pigment ink pad.
• Next using the Daisy outline image stamp it once centrally on the card with the Triple Fruity Reds pigment ink pad.  Then on Kraft card stamp it twice more and cut them out.  Snip in between petals and shape slightly to give movement.
• Attach the daisies to the centre of the card using 3D Glue gel/foam pads slightly off setting to add dimension to the image. 
• Then use a glue gel/£d glue gel to the centre of the daisy and top with some micro beads.  Leave to dry.
• Take the ‘Sunshine ‘ Greeting form the Daisy Set and stamp onto white card using the browns ink pad.  Layer with some red card and add to front of card.
• Enjoy!

The second card is using the same set.  This time MJ only used part of the Daisy stamp.

 

 

What MJ Did

• Using a 6” x 6” square card blank matt some orange, yellow and white layers.
• Next take the Daisy outline stamp and black archival ink and stamp onto watercolour card three times.
• Using the Oak House Studio Pure Colour Chemistry ink – Put a little onto a glass mat/craft sheet, take a brush and some water and colour the daisies with Bottled Sunshine, Pumpkin Pie and Jubilee Red until you have the desired effect.
• Next cut out half the daisies (see above) heads.
• Stamp the verse with Triple Sunshine Yellows pigment ink pad onto white card.  Layer this onto orange and yellow card leaving narrow borders each time.  Add to card front with 3D foam pads.
• Trim into petals of daisies to give dimension to the image and add to front of card with 3D foam pads to finish.
• Enjoy!
